About this Painting:
Golden Glow was inspired, in some ways, by my dream of being a fish in my next life—where the simple pleasures of swimming and eating fill each day, far removed from the daily pressures of our human existence. While meditating on this thought, I reflected on the ocean goddess Yemaya, who in some cultures, is revered as the Mother of all fish, the mother of all humans, the ocean itself, and all bodies of water.  Yemaya’s presence reminds me of the warmth and love I feel when stepping into my mother’s kitchen—the warmth, her nurturing care, and the feeling of unconditional love.

This painting represents that same maternal love and security I feel every time I immerse myself in water. Despite almost drowning several times in my life, I have always felt peaceful and at home in the ocean—never afraid. The ocean, much like Yemaya herself, holds me, comforts me, and welcomes me. The glowing colors of this piece reflect that deep warmth, serenity, and sense of expansiveness, as if I’m being greeted by a maternal force that knows no bounds.
