The Magic of Tiny Business

"You don't have to go big to make a great living..."

Last night I attended the The Magic of Tiny Business Power & Progress Business Women’s Symposium; an event hosted by the Entrepreneurial / Women's Business Center and I must say I enjoyed it very much.

Networking events like these not only help us establish fruitful professional connections, but they can also be really inspiring and motivating. Last night's keynote speaker was Sharon Rowe, Founder and CEO of Eco Bags Products Inc. She shared her story of how she went from trying to be an actress to now owning a 2 million dollar company, and throughout her presentation, I gathered valuable tips that really resonated with me, and that I hope will be beneficial to you as well.

Here's what I learned from Sharon last night:

  • If it costs you your peace of mind, it is too expensive.

  • Discipline equals freedom.

  • When you go to networking events, go to give, not to get. See what you can offer, and opportunities will inevitably come to you.

  • Work to make a living, not a killing.

  • And lastly, learn to articulate what you are passionate about.

If you want to learn more about Sharon and her work, I recommend purchasing her book. I am just now starting to read it and I am excited to learn more and ride this wave of inspiration.
